Welcome to Kindergarten in room 101!
I am Mark Hirsch, former middle school math teacher, and now I am a kindergarten teacher. I have been at Marcy since 2001. Other staff members think I moved to kindergarten because I was tired of climbing the stairs to third floor. The truth is that I wanted to return to the primary grades where I began as a teacher. I taught first grade for three years before being moved to middle school.
In 1988, Robert Fulghum popularized the phrase, “All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten”. While this may be a bit of a stretch, it points to the importance of this year in a child’s development. I am excited for this opportunity to work with you and your child. I hope we can work together and make this a great year.
It is very important to me to have parent-teacher communication. There are 2 ways to reach me: call before school starts (7:30 – 8:30) at 612-668-1020 or email me at mark.hirsch@mpls.k12.mn.us (my first choice). I always check my email in the morning and after school. I look forward to a wonderful year teaching your child. I know they are the most precious gifts you have!
