Bilingual Somali Associate Educator: Ahmed Abdi

Marcy Open School is proud to serve students in grades K through 8 in our English as a Second Language (ESL) program.  With roots in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America, our ELL students and their families bring a rich diversity to our school community. 

The goal of our ESL department is to help our students build a strong foundation for academic achievement while becoming proficient in the English Language.  The ELL program at Marcy Open School serves the individual needs of our students, while maintaining the school philosophy of nurturing their potential as self-directed learners. 

Students in grades K through 8 have  ELL-specific language arts class in the ESL classroom.  In their regular classrooms, ELL students are supported daily by our bilingual Associate Educator, Ahmed.
