Hi my name is Sue Maxa. I have been teaching in Minneapolis for 22 years. I have been at Marcy for 10 years. I went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for my undergraduate work. I have a degree in Geography and Environmental Studies. I went on to the University of Minnesota for a masters degree in Environmental Education and Elementary Education. Before I started teaching in Minneapolis I was a naturalist at several nature centers in the Twin Cities including Dodge Nature Center, Springbrook Nature Center and Camp St. Croix. I have also taught at nature centers in Aspen, Colorado and Virginia Beach, Virginia.
I have taught every grade from kindergarten through sixth and my favorite grades to teach are third and fourth! I love the students eagerness to learn and their sense of adventure. I look forward to going richer and deeper into the curriculum as we go through fourth grade together. I live in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis with my husband Pete and 2 kids, Simon and Clara. I also have a dog named Zoey. I love to be outside biking, skiing, walking, and playing tennis. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and traveling.
