Local dance company Rhythmically Speaking introduces students to jazz, a quintessentially American art form with roots in African and Latin diasporic movement ideas. Through RS' innovative groove, interaction and improvisation-driven, historically-informed approach to jazz dance, students will explore being an individual within community, as well as kindness and empathy through movement.

2ND GRADE - ROCKIN THE DECADES  - KATY HAYS & CHELLIE BROWN

3RD GRADE - MASK MAKING - ESTHER OURAY

Each student will choose an animal which they have been studying. Using simple recycled materials and colorful paper, they will create a mask of their chosen animal. The mask is made from paper mache applied over a clay mold that is sculpted by the student.

4TH GRADE - BOOK ARTS/ JOURNALS - MCBA

Minnesota Center for Book Arts introduced the 4th grade classes to the world of the book arts by creating handmade personal journals. After the class, students filled the journals with writings and drawing that will be on display at the Annual Writers' and Artists' Fair.

Students will be introduced to the artistic power of the multiple. Through this creative collaboration, a Social Studies lesson will be accompanied with the technique of relief printmaking.
