Hello 110 Families,
Happy Tuesday! This week we had an author presentation by Deborah Fraser. She wrote a book called Miss Alaneius. This book will be the basis of a vocabulary parade that we will have at the end of the school year. Look forward to more information in the future.
This Friday we have our field trip to the Children’s Theater to see The Sneetches. If you have not returned the permission slip, please do so before we leave on Friday.
Next Thursday, March 30, is Book Character Costume Day. Students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite literary character. Students should be able to tell the judges who they are and from what book. Costumes should be something that won’t be uncomfortable to wear all day, make it too hard to move up and down the stairs and around the classroom OR something that could be removed after judging.
A friendly reminder: We have two students in our class that have peanut allergies. Since we are now eating in the classroom, we are in tight quarters and we don’t want any accidental peanut reactions. Please don’t send any peanut products with your student. Thank you!
Have a great weekend,
Rachel Herder and Alex Schluender

What we’re doing in:
Reading: We are identifying and using text features. This includes making predictions using the contents page, reading dialogue and punctuation, and noticing changes in the print. Reading groups are working on level-appropriate comprehension and word-decoding.
Math: We are continuing to work on our double-digit addition and subtraction. We are using the strategy of splitting, and adding two, three and even four digit numbers.
Science: We are studying Balance and Motion. This introduction to physics will include a lot of hands-on experimentation and learning. So far we have been balancing, and we even built mobiles.
Reminders
