When classes work on a theme they will try to adapt the work that they do so that it revolves around a common idea. For example; if the class is working on a theme of Black History they will not only learn about famous African Americans in their social studies, but subjects like reading will also involve stories of African American history. Their math class may also study math theories advanced by African American mathematicians, science may explore important discoveries made by African American scientists. The students may also learn of important traditions in African American music, dance and art.
