Homework

According to Responsive Classroom research there is no proven correlation between academic achievement and homework. Many children have extracurricular activities that provide rich learning experiences. We believe after long school hours children need to explore and have time to play. The primary team wishes to make homework meaningful and related.

We will send home a monthly reading and writing log in the Friday Folder. You can decide if you would like to use it to keep your child on track. We recommend that each student is reading/read to for 20 minutes daily and writing for 20 minutes daily. When we start a new unit in math class, we will send home a parent letter about the unit of study and suggested family activities relating to the unit. Any unfinished work in Math will be sent home to be completed. We will periodically send home family home projects for units of study we do as a team.
