Principal Reading Challenge

Hello Marcy Readers!

This year we will be participating in the Principal’s reading challenge again!  Each month you will be given a calendar to keep track of your home reading. This calendar can also be found on our school website.

It is highly encouraged that kindergartners are read to for 20-30 minutes per day. Please document the number of minutes you read each day on the provided calendar. At the end of the month turn your calendar into your teacher.  Those meeting the goal of reading 20-30 minutes per day will be turned into the principal and be recorded for our school-wide challenge. 

Keep in mind that the 20-30 minutes do not need to be in one sitting.  This can include reading mail, magazines, poems, books to your child.  Students can read books that they bring home from school or at their ‘just right’ level.

Each student that reaches his/her goal will receive recognition for their hard work.  We hope everyone takes this challenge and pushes him or herself to read more than ever before.
